Billie’s New Sweater

Billie's new sweater

I didn’t really like the fit of the first sweater I did for Billie. I found various patterns on websites for dog sweaters, including how to measure your dog to custom fit. However, in the end I just crocheted, tried on, adjusted throughout. I finished it, took the doggie for a walk and decided to modify it. Now I have a sweater that fits well.

I used Sidar’s Click #2147 Aran with wool for the collar and cuffs and Cascade yarn’s Heathers #8013 (100% Peruvian Highland Wool) for the body, both picked up in the clearance section of Mary Maxim. I crocheted the body in a alternating single and double pattern to give it a nice texture and density.

Istarted the project using the #8 bamboo crochet hook I bought in Cupertino in January; however, before the remake Miss Billie stole the hook and chewed it to bits. I was not pleased! I couldn’t find my 4mm hook so used a 3.75 to finish the project.

Monopod

Monopod

In Chronicles of Narnia, Voyage of the Dawntreader perhaps, the children visit an island that is inhabited by Monopods. Here is my interpretation of them. Originally I was going to give it to Billie to play with, but I fell in love with it, so it will not be chewed by the dog. He is keeping company with the Mini Mina Monkey Trish & Kianna found.

Happy Hallowe’en!

Jack O'Lantern

Scott, a boarder at Cheryl’s neighbour turn 41 today — and woke up to 41 pumpkins on the front lawn! Rita told Cheryl to invite everyone to come and get a pumpkin. So Billie and I walked over and chose a pumpkin, brought it home and carved it  (that is, I carved it; Billie just watched intently, hoping she could eat it). Jack spent the evening glowing on my balcony.

Monday – baked the pumpkin and put 8 packages of pumpkin puree into the freezer. i do love pumpkin chocolate chip cookies!

My poor little doggie shivers in the cold air. So I decided to make her a sweater. I used the yarn left over from the monkey slippers and toy I made for Mina. the pattern is a free one from Bernat’s website.

You can see from the photo how enthused my little friend is with my gift!

Yet another project finished

Last year I made a pair of monkey slippers for my grandbaby; I started the toy monkey that matched, but never finished it. Now Mina can wear the slippers, but only wants to play with the monkey heads. I decided it was time to finish the toy monkey.
