Mina’s baby

As the Itsy Bitsy Babies are much to small for my favourite granddaughter, I decided it was time (after a 24+ year break) to make another soft sculpture doll. Can I do it?

I cut out the pattern last Friday night. On Saturday Trina sent me a link to an Etsy site that was selling the original pattern. The picture reminded me that there is a bent leg version as well as the straight leg. Seems I have lost the original bent leg pattern piece. However, as I made so many of them in the early 80s I traced the original pattern, first to enlarge it and then to have new pattern pieces when one set got well used. I was able to use the original tracing to make a new bent leg pattern.

Today I made the face. Next I have to start sewing. *gulp*

Another baby outfit

I did another Itsy Bitsy Baby outfit (pink) and put the finishing touches on the Ladybug outfit (note the “homemade” ladybug on the headband :-)). One naked baby to go – in the back row of the picture. This one I want to make a little reindeer outfit – cause that is what my Mina wore at Christmas time. I was able to pick up a tan coloured bamboo #10 crochet cotton at Herrschners today. I am using this particular doll because, Mina, when she is uncertain about something puts her two little hands behind her ears, and this particular doll reminded me so much of her.

Vacation

One week of my summer is spent at Paul & Marjorie Snyder’s trailer at Miller Lake. Marj and I take seriously our sitting and crocheting (or other needlework) time. This year we crocheted clothes for little dolls.

I crocheted the yellow and white outfit and the black and red outfit. My third outfit is not yet finished.

Glasses holder

I bought a pair of funky reading glasses, as my vision is not what it once was. I also bought some coloured beads and made glasses holders.
