Mina mail

I’ve been mailing little items to Mina because she loves to get “Mina mail.”

I was very thrilled last week myself when I got my first “Gramma mail” from Mina – a birthday present: ladybugs she made in nursery school; and other letters she created, that now hang on my fridge…

I have a new item to send now, a crocheted hat (pattern from Yarn Blossom Boutique) — one hat, two interchangeable flowers. I had to use a doll for a model, I hope it will fit my favourite girl! I used bits of my stash, mostly Caron Simply Soft. Hook size 5mm.

Update: December 1, 2013

As I suspected, the hat is a little small for Mina. Thankfully, she doesn’t seem to mind. I think I will make another, using a larger hook size, for when they come to Ontario. Trina send a video clip:

Work in progress

I can’t have just one thing in progress at a time – that would be boring,

Things I’m working on – http://www.crochettoday.com/crochet-patterns/wrap-re-make using Patons Fresco in a buttery yellow (hook size 6mm);

http://www.crochettoday.com/crochet-patterns/runaway-menagerie-mama-baby-panda – I’ve started the Panda, using #10 crochet cotton (so it will be miniature) in off-white and black, of course, using 150 mm hook. My eyes certainly are what they once were; I’m finding it harder to do this fine stuff than I used to.

I made http://www.crochettoday.com/crochet-patterns/blooming-sun-hat using Bernat Handicrafter Cotton (4 ply worsted weight). It is a little big but perhaps if I wash it in hot water and dry it in the hot dryer it will shrink some.

I ran out of the pink yarn for the watermelon sweater, so it is on hold for the moment.
